Much travelling and shenanigans has occurred since my last email. The following is a very reduced update: Tamworth: Jo ran back to London while I went to Tamworth, which isn't the Country Music Capital of England, but a mate from Banana lives there. I met about 7 or so lads and lasses from Rocky, discovered the wonderful Wetherspoons and painted the town a deep shade of red. While I was incoherent some stranger tied my bootlaces together, and I provided much entertainment for the local police in my efforts to untie them. Scotland: I met up with my sister in Glasgow, rented a car, and did a three day blitz tour of Scotland. The most fantastic scenery in the UK is in the Scottish highlands. We saw a few Heilan' Coos, which was exciting. Carla taught me a thing or to about whisky. Met up with Jo again in Edinburgh. Glastonbury: Jo and I drove the 10 hours from Edinburgh to Glastonbury in a Smart Car. Surprisingly it sat okay on 70 miles/hr, but when it gets to about 80 miles/hr (~130km/hr) it gets quite scary. We spent two days playing in a tournament in Glastonbury, which I've given a longer speel on at the bottom of this email. After Glastonbury we went to Bath, which has baths, then off to Windsor (very British), then jumped on a plane and came to New York. HOORAY! ***************** Glastonbury Special: The Glastonbury tournament was an interesting event. Everyone camped at the fields and the place was a sea of tents. We joined some of our team mates from Cambridge in a giant tent, and it was good. There were 32 teams, and only 3 50 minute games a day. We had enough time between games to climb The Tor (a hill with a 15 century structure on the top). They have no rules about how many girls are on each team - Jo was the only girl on our team, and our first game was against a team of all girls. Nice. The best surprise of the tournament was an impromptu meeting with the Unmade Bed. Keith had turned up to play for Portsmouth. I played a few points with his team, and I was happy. The party was tops. Finally I was meeting some real English people. I was keen to do a bit of mingling, but ended up spending the hours drinking beer through a makeshift gimp mask and playing a drinking game which often required one to hum the Dambusters theme. Also played some foosball. Fantastic! Our team played slightly differently to what I was used to, but I liked what they did, and they were a fun bunch to play with. We ended up coming 6th out of 32.
