239. Canberra Cup

We were staying in cabins way out in the sticks, not far from Fyshwick. I caught the train on Friday and worked from Capital Brewing for a couple of hours before heading to the accommodation. Nobody else arrived until fairly late, so I did a virtual beer tasting with DJ from Mountain Culture and Topher from Wildflower. That was great. This was a stronger team than Regionals, with a lot of players who are playing with other teams for Nationals season but with us for Worlds coming over to us. Martin, Jan, Denyer, and Dan Gladish joined us and all made a difference. We were playing in division 1 where there were 9 teams. The draw was 3 rounds of 3 pools of 3 (if you can make sense of that), so 6 games. We only beat Manly, and otherwise only played division 1 teams that we generally made strong showings against. We took half against a weakened Colony, but lost by 2. We lost to Krank twice, but it was relatively close the second time around. Because we were so far out, we didn't bother going into town and spent Saturday night at Capital Brewing, then a few more drinks back at the accommodation.
