242. World Masters Ultimate Club Championships

It was a longer tournament than a usual Worlds - 10 games across 7 days. I arrived a couple of days beforehand, spending a night in Dublin and a night in Limerick with Taz and Glenn, with Mat staying nearby. Status Quo was pretty awesome. Really good vibe, very professional on the field, and heaps of fun off the field. The senior players did a great job leading by example and pulling the team up. We had two come from behind universe point wins, and a bunch of well fought close games. The spirit in general was very high. Most teams were great to play against, and the worst weren't that bad at all. Our most satisfying game was a rematch against Woolly Mammoth, who I didn't get any O stats but got a sweet block on a deep shot against Brett Matzuka's team Boneyard, who went on to win the tournament. The two parties were great. The first was at the uni with a cover band and a proper moshpit. I ran into a bunch of people I'd meet over the years. Everyone got COVID. The second party was outside at the Castle and was also fun. Everyone got COVID again. We did an O vs D boat race with pints of guinness. O (which I was on for some reason) dominated. Awesome tournament. Probably my favourite worlds, even though I went into it with a hip injury and took 2 days off in the middle.
