257. Australian Ultimate Championships Div II

We came in seeded 11th, so to come 4th was a big achievement. The highlights were the quarter against Bench, and then the semi against NSU. We played very high quality frisbee, and were leading NSU for most of the game. They only took it at the end. We lost the bronze medal game to Paha and one of their players. A bit of pushing and shoving and holding back. The sort of thing you never ever see in frisbee, so that was a bit of excitement. It was sad to not win bronze again after having it in our hands, but 4th was a great result for the weekend. The draw and the perfectly cool weather helped us, but we earned the position with that great game against NSU. I did my ankle in the last game. It wasn’t disastrous, and I was able to finish the game, but it became fairly problematic later. I ended up missing Terrigal Towel and getting out of a moon boot just in time for Beach Nats. Almost as exciting as coming 4th ourselves was seeing Quoll from Tasmania bring down some big scalps with their young team. They beat Equinox and ended up coming 6th. I caught the train and bus there overnight. It was a pretty easy trip as it usually is to those parts of Victoria. We tried the brewery but it wasn’t that great. Then we found an awesome bar called Shingo’s Lounge.
