262. World Masters Ultimate Championships

Japanese style of play guided our defensive strategy, as well as a bunch of hucks to our tall Elliot, and we won on universe. I scored the last point (after being called on as an injury sub for Elliot), and got slightly emotional. After that we beat Venezuela twice in a row, and took Germany down fairly convincingly to make the semis. Canada gave us nothing in the semi and flogged us 15-1. The only point we scored was due to an Alex Felson freak of athleticism - it really should have been 15-0. Japan adjusted their offence and beat us soundly in the rematch for bronze, but we were very happy to have done as well as we did. I played well all tournament. I only made a couple of mistakes, and they were in high pressure situations against Canada. I was running hard all tournament and playing pretty good defence. Although I wasn’t on the top 7 line, I was often called on because I was always ready to go, and playing pretty well. Grand masters is way easier than masters.
